Kathryn Weekley Becnel, a native of Louisiana, attended St. Martin’s Episcopal School and the University of Alabama. She received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law. Kathryn began her legal career as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana in New Orleans, working in the Civil Division. During her ten years as an AUSA, her practice included defending tort cases, handling social security matters and immigration litigation, and representing numerous federal agencies such as HUD, the FBI, and FEMA. During this time, Kathryn’s practice was strictly limited to federal court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Kathryn is admitted to practice before all Louisiana state courts, the federal courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the American Association of Justice. She has been admitted to practice law in Colorado since 2008 and is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Pitkin County Bar Association.
Since joining Becket in the law practice in 2006, her varied practice has included personal injury, workers’ compensation claims, social security claims, and DWI cases.
In 2024, Kathryn was appointed to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, where she plays an important role in overseeing and regulating gaming operations in the state.
Kathryn and Becket have two adult children, whom she considers her greatest achievements. She cherishes watching them grow into remarkable individuals and continues to support and guide them with love and pride.
